As a vegan you might have been searching for a healthy vegan alternative to parmesan cheese. Parmasio does the trick if you are looking to add a cheese like flavour to your meals. It is plant based and uses Gomasio made from sesame seeds as a base. We sprinkle pamasio over soups, pasta dishes and add it to dips and sauces to give them a cheese like twist. The sesame seeds give it texture and a lovely nutty flavour. Nutritional yeast is rich in minerals and B vitamins and therefore an extra bonus for to this healthy vegan alternative to parmesan cheese.
Ingredients for 1 /12 cups:
1 cup of gomasio
1 cup of nutritional yeast flakes
Preparation time: 2 minutes
1. Using a food processor blend the gomasio with the nutritional yeast flakes together until you have a still crumbly consistency. I tend to use the pulse function to ensure I don’t over blend the mix.
2. Transfer the pamasio to an airtight container and store in the fridge. It will keep for about a week. You can always make smaller quantities to ensure you use it fresh though it has become so popular in our house that I can barely keep up with the demand and make it on a weekly basis.
